Describe a time when you broke something

Sample Answer

A memorable time when I accidentally broke something was about a year ago, when I was helping my mother rearrange the living room. We were shifting some furniture around, and I was carrying a decorative glass vase that had been in our house for many years. It wasn’t extremely valuable, but it had a lot of sentimental value because it was a gift from one of my parents’ close friends.

While moving it from one corner to another, my grip slipped for a second. Before I could adjust my hold, the vase slipped out of my hands and shattered into pieces on the floor. The sound of the glass breaking was so loud that everyone in the house rushed to see what had happened. I felt extremely guilty and embarrassed because I knew how attached my mother was to it.

After taking a moment, I apologised and cleaned up the mess carefully to make sure no sharp pieces were left behind. Later, I even tried to look for a similar vase online so I could replace it. Although I wasn’t able to find an exact match, my mother appreciated the effort and told me not to worry because such accidents can happen to anyone.

This incident stands out in my memory because it taught me to be more careful and patient, especially when handling fragile items. It was a simple mistake, but it made me realise how important it is to stay focused during small tasks.
