Honestly speaking, I’ve been fortunate enough to have quite a few people around me who left a deep impression on me. But today, I’d like to talk about someone really close to my heart – my childhood friend Rahul. He’s not just a friend; he’s more like a brother to me, as we grew up in the same neighborhood and went to the same school.

We’ve known each other since we were toddlers, and over the years, our bond has only grown stronger. Rahul is someone who is full of energy, always up for new challenges, and never fails to impress me with his ideas and opinions. What I like the most about him is that he’s a jack of all trades – he’s good at studies, sports, and even creative things like content creation and social media work.

He’s also deeply involved in community service. In fact, every Sunday, he volunteers with a local NGO to help underprivileged children with their studies. I think this is a perfect example of how he contributes to society in a meaningful way. It’s something I truly admire about him.

Not long ago, we met at a birthday party after a brief break, and I realized how much I had missed our deep conversations. We sat in a corner for hours, discussing everything from life goals to recent trends. His ability to see things from a different perspective makes every conversation interesting. That’s why people often turn to him for advice – he always has something insightful to say.

I also remember preparing for an inter-college project with him last year. We worked as a team and spent days researching, writing, and practicing together. Working with him was not only efficient but also fun, as he kept the atmosphere light and stress-free.

Honestly, he’s one of the few people I genuinely enjoy spending time with. We often go for long walks or grab coffee and just talk about life. I even follow his content on Instagram where he shares motivational stories and educational tips. His creativity and passion really inspire me.

Looking ahead, I’d love to collaborate with Rahul on something bigger – maybe start a social media campaign or even a small start-up. He’s someone who’s not just talented but also reliable and kind-hearted.

Sample Answer:

Honestly, I’m not really someone who frequently asks for or accepts gifts, as I’ve always believed in earning things on my own. However, there’s one particular occasion when I received a gift that I truly wanted, and it left a lasting impact on me.

It was on my birthday last year when I got the gift I had been longing for—a smartphone. I had been eyeing it for months, and even though I didn't directly ask for it, I kept mentioning how much I admired its features. What made this gift even more special was that it came from my older brother, who had been aware of my desire for the phone but also understood that I was hesitant to ask for it.

When I unwrapped it, I was over the moon It was the exact model I had wanted, and the fact that my brother had gone out of his way to get it for me was truly heart-warming. I felt a mix of gratitude and surprise because I never expected him to actually follow through with it, especially since I never outright asked him.

The experience made me realise how thoughtful my brother is and how much he understands my preferences. It wasn't just about receiving a material gift; it was about the thought behind it, and the fact that he recognized something that would make me happy. I was also a little humbled by his gesture, as I don’t usually expect anything from anyone, but this gesture made me feel valued and appreciated.

In the end, receiving that gift reinforced the importance of giving and the deep connection that gifts can create between people, especially when they are given from the heart.

Describe a goal you set, which you achieved recently | New cue cards for May to August 2025 | New Cue Cards 2025 | Makkar ielts | Makkar may to august 2025 new cue cards |

Cue Card:

Describe a goal you set, which you achieved recently
You should say:

  • What it was

  • When did you set it

  • How did you achieve it

  • And explain how it influenced your life

Sample Answer 1: Goal – Becoming Fit

Honestly speaking, I had always wanted to get into better shape, but I kept putting it off. However, around six months ago, I set a solid goal to become physically fit and improve my overall health. I had gained some weight due to my sedentary lifestyle and poor eating habits, so I decided it was time to take charge.

I started by creating a basic workout routine, including cardio and strength training. I also consulted a dietitian who helped me follow a balanced, healthy diet. Initially, it was tough to stay consistent, but I stayed focused and kept my eye on the prize. I used to wake up early and hit the gym before starting my day, and that became a part of my routine.

After around three months of dedication and hard work, I started seeing visible changes. I lost weight, felt more energetic, and most importantly, my confidence improved drastically. This goal not only helped me get in shape but also taught me the value of discipline and patience.

All in all, this experience changed my lifestyle completely and I now feel much more positive and focused in life.

Sample Answer 2: Goal – Learning French

Well, one of the goals I set for myself recently was to learn the French language. I’ve always been fascinated by French culture and wanted to explore it deeper. So, about a year ago, I decided to enroll in an online French course.

At first, I found it quite challenging — especially the pronunciation and grammar. But I was determined to master the basics. I practiced daily, watched French YouTubers, listened to French music, and even tried chatting with native speakers online. It was a slow journey, but gradually, I started understanding and speaking short sentences.

I would say the turning point came when I watched an entire French movie with subtitles — and I could actually follow the dialogue! That was a proud moment. Now, I’ve reached the intermediate level, and my next goal is to become fluent.

This goal has made me more confident in communicating with people from different cultures. It has also improved my memory and concentration. To sum up, learning French has opened new doors for me, and I feel proud of how far I’ve come.

  • What your experience was there

Sample Answer:

Honestly speaking, I’m not someone who visits sports complexes very often, but there’s one particular visit that left a lasting impression on me. I’d like to talk about the I.S. Bindra Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, which is located in Mohali, Punjab. I had the chance to visit it recently when I attended an IPL match between Punjab Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru.

The stadium is massive and very well-maintained. It offers a wide range of top-notch facilities such as comfortable seating, clean restrooms, food stalls with a variety of snacks, and even dedicated fan zones. The entire place had an electrifying atmosphere, filled with cheers, music, and colorful lights. What really made my day was the fact that I got a seat with an amazing view—right above the boundary line, which made the experience even more thrilling.

The match itself was super exciting, and being there in person instead of watching it on TV was a whole different vibe. I could literally feel the adrenaline rush every time a six was hit or a wicket fell. The crowd was super energetic, and the whole environment was nothing short of a celebration.

What I liked the most about the sports complex was how well-organized everything was—from parking to crowd management. It truly felt like a world-class venue. Attending the match there was one of the most memorable experiences of my life, and I’d definitely love to go again.

Honestly speaking, I’m a kind of person who loves spending time in nature, especially during weekends. But there was one experience that really opened my eyes and made me feel a bit sad about how irresponsible people can be.

It happened a few months ago when I went to a nearby lake with my cousins. We had planned a short picnic just to get some fresh air and relax. The lake is actually a well-known spot in our area and usually stays quite clean. But that day, when we reached there, I was shocked to see piles of plastic waste all around the lake. There were plastic bottles, bags, wrappers—literally everywhere. It felt like someone had just dumped everything there after a party or maybe some local gathering.

At first, I felt really bad. I had never seen that place in such a terrible condition before. My cousins and I started talking about it, and we felt that just ignoring it would not make sense. So we decided to take some action. We had a few big carry bags in our car, so we used them to collect as much plastic as we could. It took us about half an hour, and we managed to clean a decent part of the lake area.

After doing this, I actually felt a sense of responsibility. We always blame others or the government for pollution, but we forget that it starts with us. That incident really pushed me to be more aware of how I manage waste and to avoid using plastic whenever possible.

So all in all, this experience was not only eye-opening but also made me realise the importance of protecting nature. It wasn’t a big effort, but it definitely made me feel good from inside.

Describe A Person Who You Believe Dresses Well:

You should say Introduction
- Who is the person who dresses well?
- What kind of dresses does he/she like to wear?
- How do you know him/her?

Honestly speaking, I don't have many people in my friend circle who are really into fashion, so it's a bit challenging to pick someone. However, one person who stands out to me is my best friend Rahul. I've known him since childhood, as we both grew up in the same neighborhood, went to the same school, and essentially spent most of our lives together. So, I consider him more like a brother than just a friend.

When it comes to his fashion sense, I believe he's one of the best-dressed individuals in my circle. Over the years, I’ve noticed his sense of style evolve, and it's always been something that makes him stand out. Even when we were younger, I remember how he would wear his school uniform in such a way that it was unique in itself—he knew how to add his personal touch. This trend continued as we grew older, and whenever we went on trips, dined out at restaurants, or went to the movies, Rahul would always sport clothes that were rare and well-thought-out. His ability to combine different outfits with such finesse, paying attention to color contrasts and patterns, is remarkable.

What I find especially interesting is that he doesn't limit himself to just western clothing. Rahul also loves wearing Indian ethnic wear, and his styling of these traditional outfits is always impressive. On regular days, he's often in casual clothes, but he makes sure to choose vibrant colors that really suit his personality. He knows how to pick shades that not only complement his appearance but also reflect who he is. This is something that really makes him stand out from the crowd.

Personally, I'm not someone who focuses much on fashion, so Rahul is my go-to person whenever I need help with picking out clothes, especially when I'm traveling or attending formal events like weddings. He's even helped me style my outfits for these occasions. Interestingly, he shared with me that he's passionate about fashion because he wants to pursue modeling, and he believes that cultivating such a sense of style is crucial for his future career.

All in all, Rahul is a fashion enthusiast, and in my opinion, he is one of the best-dressed individuals in our friend circle.
