Describe a time when you disagreed with your family or friend | SEPTEMBER TO DECEMBER NEW CUE CARDS 2025

🏆 Cue Card: Describe a time when you disagreed with your family or friend

You should say:

  • Who this person was

  • What the disagreement was about

  • What happened after the disagreement

  • And explain how you felt about it

💬 Sample Answer:

To begin with, I’d like to talk about a situation when I had a disagreement with my close friend Aman about choosing a career path after high school. He wanted me to join him in pursuing engineering, while I was more inclined towards business and management studies.

At that time, we were both under a lot of pressure from our families to make a quick decision. Aman kept insisting that engineering was a more stable and respected field, but I believed that following one’s passion is more important for long-term satisfaction. Our discussion slowly turned into a heated debate because neither of us was ready to compromise on our opinion.

For a few days, things were quite awkward between us, and we barely talked. However, after some time, we sat down and discussed our perspectives calmly. He eventually understood my point, and I appreciated his maturity in handling the situation. In the end, we both chose different paths but remained the best of friends.

Looking back, that disagreement actually strengthened our friendship because it taught us to respect each other’s choices and handle conflicts with understanding rather than ego.
