✍️ Task 2 Question

Some people think that dangerous sports should be banned while others believe that people should be free to choose. Discuss both views and give your opinion.

๐Ÿ“„ Sample Answer

In recent years, extreme and risky sports such as skydiving, bungee jumping, and rock climbing have gained significant popularity. While some individuals argue that such activities should be prohibited due to the dangers involved, others believe that everyone should have the freedom to choose their recreational pursuits. In this essay, I will discuss both sides before stating my own opinion.

On the one hand, opponents of dangerous sports believe that these activities pose a serious risk to participants and often put unnecessary strain on emergency services. Accidents in extreme sports can lead to life-threatening injuries or even death, especially when safety measures are ignored. Moreover, rescuing injured individuals from remote or risky locations can consume a large amount of public resources and manpower, which could otherwise be used for genuine emergencies. From this perspective, banning such sports may appear to be a logical solution to safeguard lives and reduce public burden.

On the other hand, supporters of individual freedom argue that every person has the right to choose how they live their lives, even if it involves an element of risk. Many people find these sports to be thrilling, fulfilling, and a way to push their physical and mental limits. As long as individuals are aware of the risks and proper safety protocols are followed, it is unfair for governments to restrict personal freedom. Furthermore, banning these sports could hurt tourism industries in places where adventure sports are a major attraction.

In my opinion, while safety is important, outright banning of dangerous sports would be an overreaction. Instead, governments and sport organizers should ensure strict regulations and safety standards are in place. This way, people can enjoy these activities responsibly without compromising their safety or the well-being of others.

To conclude, although dangerous sports come with considerable risks, personal freedom and responsibility should be respected. Rather than banning such sports, enforcing proper safety guidelines is a more balanced and effective approach.

✉️ Sample Answer

Dear Festival Manager,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing in response to your recent call for volunteers to assist with this year’s annual Spring Cultural Festival in our town. I’d be delighted to offer my help.

Last year’s event was absolutely fantastic — the vibrant music, local food stalls, and family-friendly activities made it a truly memorable day. It was especially nice to see such a big turnout from all age groups, and I think it really brought the community together.

This year, I’d be happy to support in any way I can. I have experience in event coordination and have previously volunteered as a stage assistant and crowd guide, so I can help with setting up booths, coordinating schedules, or managing attendees at the entrance. I’m also comfortable speaking on the mic, if any announcements need to be made.

Before I confirm my availability, I just have a few quick questions: What dates and times will the volunteering slots be? Will any training or briefing be provided before the event? Is there a dress code or uniform for volunteers?

Looking forward to hearing from you soon and contributing to another successful festival.

Warm regards,
Yadwinder Singh

Dear Riya,

I hope you're doing great! I’ve been meaning to write to you about one of the pictures we took during our recent weekend getaway to Manali.

There’s a particular photo I’d love for you to send me — it’s the one where we’re sitting on the hilltop just after sunrise, with the snow-covered peaks in the background. Remember how perfect the light was that morning? That one came out especially well!

I actually want to use it as a background photo for my travel blog post about our trip. I’ve been working on it all week and that photo really captures the spirit of the whole experience — peaceful, adventurous, and full of nature’s beauty.

Unfortunately, my phone glitched when I was transferring files to my laptop, and that specific image didn’t save properly. I’ve checked everywhere, but no luck.

Could you please send it to me over WhatsApp when you have a moment? I’d be super grateful.

Take care,
Yadwinder

"Why do some countries continue to destroy historical places to build residential houses? What is your opinion?"

 Sample Answer

In recent years, there has been a growing trend in some countries to demolish historical buildings to make way for residential housing. In my opinion, this is a short-sighted approach that overlooks the cultural, educational, and economic value of heritage sites.

One major reason behind this practice is rapid urbanisation and population growth. In many developing countries, the demand for affordable housing is increasing at an alarming rate, and governments often view historical sites as unproductive land that could be better utilised for housing development. Moreover, maintaining or restoring old buildings is often seen as an expensive and time-consuming task, especially when funds are limited.

However, I strongly believe that historical places should be preserved rather than destroyed. These sites are not only architectural treasures but also serve as powerful reminders of a nation's past. They connect the present generation with their roots and help develop a sense of pride and identity. Replacing them with modern apartments may solve short-term housing problems, but it leads to the permanent loss of irreplaceable heritage.

Instead of destroying such sites, governments should explore alternative solutions, such as vertical housing or building new satellite towns. Additionally, well-preserved heritage sites can boost tourism, which can bring long-term economic benefits far greater than what new housing might generate.

In conclusion, while the need for housing is undeniable, demolishing historical places is not the right solution. A more balanced and sustainable approach should be adopted that respects cultural history while meeting modern needs.

Demolish To destroy a building or structure

๐ŸŸข Part 1 – Interview Questions & Sample Answers

❓Where do you currently live?

Right now, I’m living in a small town near Chandigarh called Kharar. It’s not very fancy, but it’s peaceful and well-connected, which makes life pretty smooth here.

❓What do you like most about your place of residence?

I love the calm atmosphere here. Unlike big cities, it's not overcrowded, and everything is available nearby — markets, cafes, and even green parks. Also, I feel safe walking around even at night, which is a big plus.

❓Would you like to move to a different place in the future? Why or why not?

Yes, definitely. I have plans to move to Canada for higher education and better career prospects. I feel like moving abroad would give me more exposure and allow me to grow personally and professionally.

❓Are you interested in space or astronomy?

To be honest, yes. I’ve always been fascinated by the stars and the idea of the universe being so vast. I often watch documentaries or space-related YouTube videos to learn more.

❓Have you ever looked through a telescope?

Yes! Once at a science exhibition during school. I got to look at the moon through a telescope, and it was mind-blowing. I still remember how clearly the craters were visible.

❓Do you think it’s important to learn about stars and planets?

I think it’s super important. Learning about space helps us understand where we come from and also shows us how tiny our problems are in the grand scheme of things. It’s both humbling and inspiring.

❓Do you always carry your keys with you?

Yes, I do. I’m someone who double-checks if I’ve taken my keys before leaving the house. I’ve had bad experiences in the past, so now I’m extra careful.

❓Have you ever lost your keys or been locked out?

Unfortunately, yes. A few years ago, I forgot my house keys at work and had to wait two hours outside until my brother came home. That day taught me a big lesson!

๐ŸŸฃ Part 2 – Cue Card

❓Describe a skill you taught to someone.

You should say:
– what the skill was
– who you taught it to
– how you taught it
– and explain how you felt about teaching this skill.

๐Ÿ—ฃ️ Sample Answer:

Well, I’d like to talk about a time when I taught my younger sister how to use Adobe Photoshop. She’s really into art and design, and during her school project, she wanted to design a digital poster, but had no clue how to begin.

Since I’ve been using Photoshop for a while, I offered to help her out. We sat down for a couple of hours, and I started from the very basics — like how to add layers, insert text, use blending tools, and apply effects. I also gave her some practice files and guided her step by step.

What surprised me was how quickly she picked it up. Within a week, she was designing on her own, and honestly, some of her designs were better than mine! I felt really proud, not just because I taught her something useful, but also because I saw her confidence grow.

It made me realize how satisfying teaching can be — especially when it’s someone close to you and they genuinely enjoy learning. I think I might consider teaching as a side hustle in the future!

๐Ÿ”ด Part 3 – Follow-Up Discussion Questions

❓What kind of things can younger people teach the older generation?

Younger people are usually more tech-savvy, so they can help elders understand smartphones, social media, online banking, and even how to use apps like WhatsApp or Zoom. It builds a nice connection between generations too.

❓Do you think learning by observing is more effective than learning through instruction?

I think both methods have their own value. But personally, I learn faster by observing — like watching someone do it first and then trying it myself. It’s more visual and practical, which works better for most people these days.

❓Can anyone learn any skill they set their mind to?

Yes, I strongly believe so. Of course, some people learn faster than others, but with consistency, guidance, and the right resources, anyone can master a new skill.

❓Why do some people struggle to learn new things?

There are many reasons — fear of failure, lack of motivation, or even age sometimes makes learning tough. Also, if the teaching method doesn’t suit the learner, it can be hard for them to grasp things quickly.

❓What makes a good teacher in your opinion?

A good teacher is someone who’s patient, knowledgeable, and able to explain complex things in a simple way. Also, empathy is super important — they should understand the student’s mindset and struggles.

❓Do you think technology has made it easier for people to teach and learn?

Absolutely. With online courses, YouTube tutorials, and educational apps, learning has become more accessible than ever. Even people living in remote areas can now learn skills online at their own pace.
