✅ PART 1 — Work & Shoes
Which software do you use at work/studies?
I mostly use basic productivity software like Microsoft Word and Excel for documents and data. I also use email and video-conferencing tools such as Zoom or Google Meet for communication.
Why do you use this software?
It helps me organise my work efficiently and saves a lot of time. Everything is easy to access and update.
Do you like shoes?
Yes, I do. Shoes are important for comfort as well as style, especially when you’re out for long hours.
How often do you buy shoes?
Not very often—maybe two or three times a year. I usually buy them only when I really need a new pair.
What kind of shoes do you prefer?
I prefer comfortable shoes like sneakers because they are suitable for daily use and long walks.
Do you think good shoes are important?
Definitely. Good shoes protect your feet and make a big difference in how comfortable you feel throughout the day.
✅ PART 2 — Cue Card
Describe the first time you used a foreign language to communicate
Sample Answer (Band 7.5–8):
The first time I used a foreign language to communicate was when I spoke English with a tourist who visited my city. This happened a few years ago at a local market where I was helping my uncle at his shop.
The tourist was from Europe and didn’t understand the local language, so English was the only common language we could use. He wanted to know the prices of some items and how to reach a nearby tourist spot. At first, I felt a bit nervous because I wasn’t very confident in my English, but I decided to try.
I spoke slowly and used simple words, and surprisingly, the conversation went quite smoothly. He understood me, thanked me, and even complimented my English. That moment gave me a lot of confidence.
I used a foreign language on that occasion because it was necessary for communication. There was no other way to explain things clearly. This experience made me realise how important foreign languages are, especially English, and it motivated me to improve my speaking skills further.
✅ PART 3 — Discussion
What are the disadvantages of learning foreign languages?
Learning a foreign language can be time-consuming and sometimes frustrating. Pronunciation and grammar can be confusing, and some people may feel shy or lack confidence while speaking.
Why should children learn foreign languages?
Children should learn foreign languages because their brains are more flexible, so they can learn faster. It also improves their communication skills and opens up better career opportunities in the future.
How can children be taught foreign languages effectively?
They can be taught through fun activities like games, songs, cartoons, and interactive classes. Learning through practice rather than memorisation is much more effective.
Which languages are the most spoken in the world?
Languages like English, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish, and Hindi are among the most spoken languages globally.
Which languages are the most learned today?
English is the most learned language worldwide because it’s used internationally. Other popular languages include Spanish, French, German, and Chinese.
